I’m Yori Ludvigson, also known as Big Lud, and together with my family, amazing wife Tiffany and our four beautiful daughters, we bring you the best BBQ in St. George. Our story originates on a family farm in Sterling, Utah, where my brothers and I grew up working the land, hunting, fishing, and discovering a passion for smoking meats.

Our journey started with a humble Little Chief smoker, purchased with savings and pop bottle returns at Aunt Lily’s store. From that moment, we were hooked, smoking anything we could get our hands on. With the best parents guiding us, we eventually upgraded to a Big Chief smoker, perfecting our craft for years.

In 1997, while coaching football at North Sanpete High School, I put my first pig in the ground with Vern Akauola an experience that ignited my lifelong passion for barbecue. From fabricating old barrels to scouring yard sales for smokers, I spent years refining my skills, smoking countless whole hogs in the ground, on a spit, or in a smoker. 

Over the years, I’ve catered events, fed thousands at charity functions, and competed in BBQ competitions, always striving to perfect my meats, sauces, and rubs. My travels across the country have introduced me to some of the best barbecue, but I’m proud to say that you can taste top-notch, authentic Texas-style BBQ right here at Big Lud’s in St. George.
